Memorial Day may have come and gone, and our minds shifted to thoughts of summertime excursions, but I'd like to take another moment to acknowledge the holiday and the meaning behind it.
There are many ways and a multitude of ceremonies to pay tribute to our fallen military service members. In Massachusetts, from where this newsletter originates, hundreds of volunteers planted mini American flags on Boston Common -- some 37,000 banners in all honoring each Massachusetts service member who has died in action since the Revolutionary War. You can see some of the photos here.
This "flag garden" is a poignant reminder of service and sacrifice, a special commemoration for those who died defending our country.
Best wishes,

Cabaleiro to Lead USP Training on Revised Compounding Standards
Joseph Cabaleiro, R.Ph., a Senior Associate at Gates Healthcare, has been tapped to lead two training sessions for USP Education. The courses in June will cover key pharmaceutical compounding standards found in the revised USP Chapter <795> for non-sterile preparations and the revised Chapter <797> for sterile preparations.
Practitioners including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nurses, physicians, veterinarians and persons involved in compounding nonsterile preparations are expected to participate in the continuing pharmacy education (CPE) training courses -- which Cabaleiro will instruct as a USP volunteer and expert who helped create the new compounding standards.
